The staff were lovely. Really nice guy checked us in and even come out of reception and outside the hotel to show us exactly where to park our car and where our room was. And helped us to get a parking spot where we wouldnt block anyone or anyone would block us. We were checked in early as well which was a huge help

Location, staff, restaurants downstairs on both sites. Despite being split across two buildings, they are quite close to each other; breakfast was in a different building to the one we stayed in but we had no problem popping across each morning. The lady at the desk - whose name we didn’t get, but who kindly chatted with us for a little while! - was extremely kind, and found us an empty room on the first floor after apologising for not having a lift, so that there would be less stairs for us. Lovely little establishment and the area is fabulous. :)

The hotel is split in two, we were in the hotel just across the road(20 second walk). In a 3 person room consisting of a double and a single bed. The Room was clean, very modern, had all amenities you need in the room. Bathroom was clean and nice, had a powerful shower. Overall size of room and bathroom was very spacious. Location is right near coffee shops, main shops and lots of restaurants to choose from. Parking at back of both hotels although limited we didn’t have an issue. This hotel is on the main strip for uni students bars , but to be honest we didn’t find it noisy or affected our stay in any way. Breakfast is in the main hotel across the road,in the restaurant which was lovely and again very clean. Breakfast was buffet style. They had everything a normal buffet breakfast has to offer cereal , pastries, cooked breakfast, teas, coffees, juice etc. and staff were lovely.

The associated restaurants where easy to access from doors directly from the hotel lobby, so you didn't have to got outside if it was rainy or cold to enter them. The SOHE restaurant had an excellent full English breakfast for £11 + tax per person including juices and coffees if you pay separately on your own and not part of your room booking.

We stayed in the Carlton just a short walk from the Cairn. Standard double room was lovely and clean with a very comfortable bed. Managed to get a parking space behind hotel. Thought it may be a bit noisy at night but wasn't too bad. Had a drink in bar which was very busy but a good atmosphere. Staff were very friendly Would definitely recommend it and stay again. Very good value for money. Had a lovely breakfast in the Cairn Hotel next morning. Was very good and lots of choice.

When I visit family and I always stay at the Cairn Hotel, I've stayed there Maybe 6 times. As a woman on her own I choose the Cairn because I feel safe there. Always someone on the front desk and they are always pleasent. It's in a nice area, even the bars don't cause a sound issue. I was able to keep my window open , even through freshers week. This time I was given a room In The Carlton, their sister hotel. This is literally across the road. Either hotel is comfortable and I have never encounted any proplems. There is a Metro station about a 5 min walk( if you are a fast walkers or 10 if slow)away. I always pop into Starbucks on the way. Newcastle town center is 2/3 stations away. All in all I don't think I would stay anywhere else when visiting "home" Thank you to the staff and I will be visiting again soon 😊

Value for money. Quality was good considering the price. Helpful staff. Parking was available but tricky depending upon the time of day, but this was exactly as explained in the details. Any street and bar noise soon calmed down at the 11.30 curfew. Room was spacious and on the whole well equipped. Breakfast setting was modern and very comfortable, and everything was readily available. Location was perfect for everything in Jesmond, as well as the city centre itself. Bedding/linen was.good quality and very clean.

My first experience was with someone on the phone, when I arrived very early (5am) to the area for one reason or another. I then met Cheryl at the reception who was even more helpful. She instantly made me feel both welcome and at home. I can't quite put into words, the relief I felt, having someone as warm and kind as Cheryl greet me. The room was great, nice and clean, very comfortable. Great shower. Hairdryer, ironing facilities, TV, fridge, kettle etc. Nicely decorated, pops of colour and materials (oak look etc) which made a neutral room interesting, without being too much. Next door on both sides are really nice restaurant bars, there's loads of restaurants in Jesmond, it's a really nice part outside the main town. In fact, it's easy on the metro to go central Newcastle, but lovely enough to stay locally, without being too lively that it becomes difficult to sleep. I was only there for three days, it's amazing how at home I felt. Compare that to some friends who stayed at the Dene up the road, who couldn't wait to leave..

The property is well located and newly refurbished. As is the hotel over the road (used to be the Carlton hotel and is still named that outside) which is where we stayed. The rooms are a decent size and so is the bathroom. The breakfast was a steal when included with your stay. We only paid an additional £11 for breakfast and that covered 3 guests for 2 days and it was a self serve buffet of both hot and cold food.
